Interest rates are pretty low, companies are cutting back staff, improving their productivity and the US government is printing money (just think about their stimulus checks and Cash for Clunkers programs) like there’s no tomorrow. It seems pretty clear that sooner or later, inflation will surge. So, you would think many investors are trying to find a way to protect themselves against inflation.

My wife and I recently lost our home because we had one of those horrible adjustable rate mortgages.  We figured we would be able to make the payments, but my wife lost her job, making it impossible to meet our obligations.  While losing the house was hard, we are taking the opportunity to save some money and make some long term investments.  We looked around for awhile and decided to buy some gold.  We have found the best place to buy australian gold coins and are going to buy some each month.

Okay, so apparently a lot people saw the post thanks to google searches like “Champions Trophy Quiz” and the likes but only one contestant who unfortunately didn’t attempt even a single question. And I thought the questions were easy… here are the answers, forgive my lack of enthusiasm… 1. Which team has the best record at the ICC Champions Trophy? West Indies 2.

September 30, 2009 | By Art Basmajian In Online Business | by Art BasmajianIt isn’t simple to pretend to be a good networking company, but it is doable, and some are so good at it that they can appear to be the best multi-level marketing companies you would ever have the choice of joining. They offer massive payoffs with almost no work wanted to be done in a very short time and at very small investments re liquid capital. It sounds like a good plan – only it’s not. And it isn’t even legal.
Saving our $1 coins - dear1dear2.wordpress.com

Since so long ago that I can’t even remember, I started a habit of saving my coins in those coin-saver piggy banks. Of course, mine is not a shape of a pig, rather it is a traditional red mailbox. Now, how did this habit start? It was around the time when I got my first wallet. As many of us know, if there are coins in the wallet, it makes the entire wallet big and bulky, not to mention heavy too. So what I did was, at the end of each day, I would empty my wallet of coins and just left them lying on my study table.

“They used to call Connecticut ‘The Land of Steady Habits,’ but lately it has been more like the land of steady handouts. One mayor received expensive wines and Oriental rugs. A governor scored a free hot tub and cathedral ceilings; his aide landed a stack of gold coins. And a state treasurer finagled … well, money. They are just a few of the prominent city and state officials collared in corruption probes in recent years. But their downfalls, and resulting efforts to reform ethics rules, apparently have not stemmed the tide of charges against public servants.

The moon is most happy When it is full. And the sun always looks Like a perfectly minted gold coin That was just Polished And placed in flight By God’s playful Kiss. And so many varieties of fruit Hang plump and round From branches that seem like a Sculptor’s hands. I see the beautiful curve of a pregnant belly Shaped by a soul within, And the Earth itself, And the planets and the Spheres— I have gotten the hint: There is something about circles The Beloved likes.

The Guardian has a brilliant article on Microsoft’s user-led launch parties for Windows 7, coming to your neighborhood’s Windows fan’s home in late October. Here’s a link to the YouTube video in question, too amazing (or nauseating) to miss. But, his take on Mac enthusiasts is funnier than hell and Mac fanboy that I am, I couldn’t help laughing: I don’t like Apple products. And the better-designed and more ubiquitous they become, the more I dislike them. I blame the customers. Awful people.

There is a price to pay for this profligate spending. And gold sniffs trouble.” It’s true; gold has become noticeably less unpopular during the last few months.

[This is from Fox News, so you  just know it must be true. *wink* - Claire] A new book by a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush includes a report that White House officials did not want to give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to author J.K. Rowling because her writing “encouraged witchcraft.” According to Think Progress , author Matt Latimer in his book “Speechless: Tales of a White House Survivor” writes that the award became very politicized.
