by Oscar Planc American silver dollars have symbolised the United States’ wealth and power. For over two hundred years these large coins have meant financial strength and might. They have been collected by novice coin collectors as well as experienced collectors. They have a lasting beauty and a monetary worth besides. From the beginning of the modern age, silver has become one of the major metals for world trade. Gold coins are very precious and brass or copper not valuable enough.

Collectors and investors alike are collecting buffalo gold coins to add to their coin collections or to add to their monetary investments. The gold buffalo was created by the US Government because they sought to break into the gold bullion market. Therefore the American Gold Buffalo was the first true bullion coin minted in the [...]

The German Bundesbank has announced it will sell a maximum of 6.5 tons of gold in the current fiscal year under the Central Bank Gold Sales Agreement (CBGSA.) Germany sits on a hoard of 3,408 tons, the second largest gold stash behind the USA. The Bundesbank has always fiercely rejected all attempts by politicians to close budget gaps through selling gold. It is the first CBGSA member to publicly announce its intentions for the running year.

I had a nice, relaxing trip to Ocala yesterday, when I went to visit Catherine Wendell of Ocala Ghost Walks .  Cat does the Ocala deliveries for Horizons Magazine and is a really interesting person to talk to.  Check her website to learn about her paranormal investigations, ghost walks, new carriage walks, and psychic readings.  I drive the magazines to Ocala and Cassadaga each month myself, simply because I like the drive.  It’s a fun way to unwind after final layout.

I admit it: I’m a bigot. A hopeless bigot at that: I know my particular prejudice is absurd, but I just can’t control it. It’s Apple. I don’t like Apple products. And the better-designed and more ubiquitous they become, the more I dislike them. I blame the customers. Awful people. Awful. Stop showing me your iPhone. Stop stroking your Macbook. Stop telling me to get one. Seriously, stop it. I don’t care if Mac stuff is better. I don’t care if Mac stuff is cool.

Having just dumped windows XP for the sleeker, sexier and totally free Ubuntu (a Linux operating system), the following rant  really struck a chord. I’d been contemplating a change of “OS” for sometime, as I, like Charlie, have had a love/hate relationship with Windows operating systems for many years. I’ve always been tempted to get a Mac, but I’ve also despised those pious evangelical mac-lovers who are so eager to see you convert.  Some extracts below. Check out the whole thing here.

If we’re right about where the price of gold is headed, the general public will someday clamor to buy all things gold. While gold stocks will be where the real leverage is, the rush will start with gold itself. As a gold editor, I have a very natural question: is there enough to go around? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 6.783 billion earthlings. Meanwhile, CPM Group, a highly respected industry organization, estimates there are 4.8 billion ounces of above-ground gold in the world.
