When I recently read the headline “10 Cars Men Can’t Resist: Who Needs Online Dating When You Drive One of These” on the Toronto Globe and Mail’s website, I figured this article was written for me. I’m single, I’ve tried online dating and I test-drive cars for a living; but can a car help you meet a man? The Globe and Mail’s automotive journalist claims that driving any of the 10 cars in her list would be an instant conversation starter with a man and help you avoid “scouring the grocery store aisles for single guys.” Side note: I’ve found that Home Depot, Whole Foods and Cost Plus World Market have a better selection of men than suburban neighborhood grocery chains.

It’s old news that the 2011 Mustangs will be coming with the lighter and more powerful 5.0 Coyote engine. What’s interesting, however, is Car and Driver’s recent track visit over Michigan where they happened to catch some Ford engineers hard at work on the new generation’s track handling. Items of note included one test mule with adjustable suspension, shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber - the kind of tire Ferrari and Lamborghini go to for their supercar needs.

Ah, sports cars. Two months ago we wrangled four of our favorite contenders in the $30,000 range and had a ball throwing them around the lush backroads of southeastern Michigan. But after conducting the test and formulating the story, we realized that $30K doesn’t have to be the benchmark price for driving excitement, and that there are a lot of worthy competitors found below the $23K mark. We compiled a list of every car on sale whose MSRP is between $21K and $23K (not a penny more), weeded out our picks for the best drivers’ cars in the bunch, and formulated a series of two-car tests.

By DEB WUETHRICH A new automotive line that came into the Lenawee Stamping Corporation (LSC) as a result of a plant closing near Toronto, Canada, is operating almost up to speed now, according to Roy Strom, LSC Controller. Bringing the business to the 3,000 square feet Tecumseh plant has meant a call-back for workers laid off earlier this year when demand decreased for Mustang and Mazda parts the company also supplies. The new line manufactures cross car beams, which are supplied to the Ford Plant in Saline for the F-150.

0A Pomona jury convicted 20-year-old Robert Canizalez and 23-year-old Martin Ariel Morones on June 29th of  gross vehicular manslaughter and second degree murder for the deaths of 41-year-old Dora Groce, her 8-year-old-son Robert and 4 year-old-daughter Catherine, who died after the two men engaged in a street racing incident.  Today. they received their sentences, with Robert Canizalez, being given 48 years to life, and Martin Ariel Morones being sentenced to 45 years to life.

For 40th Annual Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres Twelve Canadians shooting for win In Series’ only visit to Canada in 2009. The 2009 Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge season is quickly coming to a close, but this weekend’s race at Le Circuit de Trois-Rivières in Quebec focuses on more than just championship battles. Round 9 of 11 for KONI Challenge competitors comes during the 40th annual Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on the 1.521-mile temporary street circuit, about two hours northeast of Montreal.

Never heard of boron? Well, Ford has.  It is used to make steel super strong. According to Wikipedia, boron is a relatively rare ore, representing only 0.001 percent of the Earth’s crust.  The worldwide deposits are estimated as 10 million tons, with nearly three quarters of it coming from Turkey.  The element also is found in the Mojave Desert in California.

Have you seen the special 45th anniversary Mustang that Lee Iacocca brought out? This was on his own, apparently without Ford. It?s based on the old ?09 body style, nicely cleaned up. I do appreciate the freedom and what-the-hell attitude embodied in a Mustang, and I do like driving cars like this. I really like this video! The soundtrack choice is perfect - and at the point he lights it up I was clapping (and Sinatra fans will appreciate the reason and timing of that particular point).

Two men who took part in a street race that killed a mother and her two children nearly two years ago in El Monte were sentenced to prison today. Robert Canizalez, 20, was given 48 years to life, and Martin Ariel Morones, 23, was sentenced to 45 years to life by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert M. Martinez. The two will be eligible for parole after serving more than 20 years, the district attorney’s office said.

There may be things that make you think twice about dropping more than $33,000 for the GXP variant of the Solstice Coupe – but it’s definitely a vehicle to consider if you’re shopping in this segment (especially if you have a buy-American motto).

Those looking for the ultimate project car will be happy to hear that a 1985 Ford Mustang GT has appeared on eBay. Now, if its 5.0 liter V8 isn’t enough to buy you over, how about the fact that it only has 99 miles on the odometer? That’s right, this car has reportedly been in climate controlled storage somewhere in Ottumwa, Iowa ever since it was purchased back in 1985. As for a price, well the bid currently sits at $11,600 with the reserve not yet met so there is really no telling how much this seller wants for the car.
