The Anaheim-based aftermarket company launched a bevy of performance products for the Chrysler LX platform and Ford Mustang earlier this year, and recently stuffed its reverse-revolution twin-screw supercharger system underneath the hood of a brand new C6 Corvette. The result? 600 horsepower and 535 lb-ft torque at just six pounds of boost.

G.M.’s balance sheet: any color you like, as long as it’s black? Maybe not yet, but the big news out of Motown is that the automaker is emerging from bankruptcy today. Will the company be able to — in the words of chief executive Fritz Henderson — “repay the trust and the money that so many have invested in G.M.”? Rolfe Winkler at Reuters Blogs thinks it should be a piece of cake, for G.M. and a few other folks: “Remember when everyone was saying that if GM filed for bankruptcy the world would end? It didn’t.

This was inevitable.  When the Obama administration effectively took over General Motors, Obama-friendly media hacks were going to tout the company’s products . . . And so it was that on his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz offered up an unpaid infomercial for GM’s new Camaro.  Most grotesque was Schultz’s boast that the Camaro was outselling the Ford Mustang. Shelby unveils Super Snake package for 2010 Ford Shelby GT500By Andrew Ganz In order to enhance the style and performance of the heavily revised 2010 Ford Mustang, Carroll Shelby’s Las Vegas-based Shelby Autos facility has taken the wraps off of a new Super Snake package. Boasting parts from Ford Racing, including a supercharger, the 2010 Super Snake package can produce up to 725 horsepower.

Ok, here’s a personality test. We made ourselves a nuisance at the chassis shop the other day only to find a pair of killer, but completely opposite Mustangs. One is a 1969 fastback sporting more than 600ci of rare Alan Root—headed Ford Hemi and the other is a blown, totally decked out 2009 Shelby Super Snake. Which one would you prefer? The high-class modern guy with all the bells and whistles, or the ancient burly cave man who’d thump you with a stick if you stepped out of line? My point is, nearly every day, I find something interesting, informative, educational, or just downright kickass on that site. Someone tweeted a link yesterday that led me to a wonderful find. I thought it was already pretty awesome that there’s a company that makes handbags from seatbelts.

GM’s out of bankruptcy. Yah, it was 16-year old boy fast. Well, it’s not REALLY out of bankruptcy. See, the “new” GM is out of bankruptcy. Because the “old” GM sold all it’s “good” stuff to a company it created that’s owned by the US gubmint, the Canadian and Ontarian (really? we’re seperating? sweet!) gubmints, the “old” GM bondholders, and the unions. So the brands they’re keeping (Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, GMC), and they stuff that still works is in the new company.
